My body doesn't feel starved so my metabolism doesn't slow down. This works best if you include some sort of protein with each meal. Lean meats, hardboiled eggs, protein shakes and lowfat cottage cheese are all great sources of protein. Combine them with some whole grain products or a piece of fruit for a small meal or snack.

Give these strategies a try and speed up your metabolism. Youll lose weight faster and youll feel better with all this extra energy. To be honest a lot depends on how you want to lose the weight. If you want to lose excess weight fast then most diets fall short. If you've ever tried to starve yourself to get thin then you've probably found the results to be less than encouraging.

Now let's assume that you decide to lose some weight and cut back on the amount of calories that you consume and reduce to around 1000 calories per day. Very quickly your body adjusts to this reduction in calories and your metabolism adjusts also.

You won't burn off excess fat just by reducing the amount of calories you eat.

You might lose a few pounds here and there but then your metabolism will adapt and cope with a lot less calories and you'll probably start to feel tired and agitated as a result.
