Living with diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease related to obesity.
Type 2 diabetes is more common and mainly caused by
obesity, too much fat in the diet, too little
exercise.

Ideal lifestyle to reverse Type 2 diabetes is a vegan
diet which is low fat, high fiber and focused on
low-glycemic index foods, such as sweet potatoes,
green vegies, barley and millet.

Animal protein is bad for diabetes as well as
osterperosis and kidney disease. So avoid eggs, milk,
as well as meat.

High fiber can be found in beans and legumes. Choose
garbanzo, kidney, black and brown beans, lentils.
Starchy vegetables like corn, yams, squash and whole
grains like barley, oats and brown rice have much
fiber and are low in fat. Barley is the traditional
Iranian healing food for diabetes.

Walking, cycling, gardening, are exercises that can
help diabetes. Start slow and gradually increase to
20-45 minutes per day, check your feet and avoid
injuries.

Psyllium husk

- Derived from the seed of of the Plantago Ovata plant

- Is a bulk-forming fiber (insoluble)

- Does not contain artificial colors, preservatives or chemicals

Psyllium husk is very rich in fiber and is popularly used to combat a variety of digestive complaints such as constipation and diarrhoea. It is used extensively in many "Colon Cleansing" programs.

Since it acts primarily by absorbing water and adding more bulk to stools, psyllium encourages the normal peristaltic (contraction) action of the bowels for elimination purposes.

Psyllium offers stool-bulking and stool-softening properties. A stool which is larger, softer and bulkier moves through the intestines more easily and quickly and thus requires less exertion to be expelled. Hence, less force is applied to the intestinal walls.

Psyllium also helps to eliminate toxic substances in the colon, as it acts almost like a sponge to soak them off the intestinal walls before being passed out.

Remedial dosage: 1 tablespoon mix into a glass of water. Maximum 3 times daily. You may add together with 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and/or 1 tbsp raw honey. Drink instantly.

Precaution : Consume at least half an hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. Do drink lots of water the whole day.

The Weight Loss Exercise Secret You Need To Know

Whilst many overweight people still seek the holy grail of weight loss through magic pills and diet plans, the more realistic buckle down to regular exercise as the answer. There are many people, former junk food addicts, who ascribe their success in losing excess weight to following an exercise program.

This article will examine a common mistake made by many people pursuing an exercise based weight loss program and establish whether it really is necessary to plod away for hours on a treadmill or exercise bike in order to shed the pounds. Doing some steady, not-too-demanding exercise is in order for warming the body up prior to proper exercise, so as to minimise the chances of pulling a muscle or tendon. But for real weight loss you need the said proper exercise, i.e. high intensity "interval training", where you work flat out for a limited time, say a minute to start with, rising to five or ten minutes when you are really fit, and then ease off with a rest or slower pace, before again working flat out for a limited period.

This pattern should be repeated in accordance with how fit you are. You can start with a short period of this kind of training, and gradually extend it as your fitness improves. The important point is that sweating the excess weight out in this way is far more effective than more gentle aerobic exercises over a longer period.

Remember, also, that other factors, such as ditching junk food and switching to a healthier diet, are also vital to long term success in losing excess weight. Learn all you can about different foods and exercise routines, plan for realistic, achievable targets, and you will have a much greater chance of shedding those pounds for good.
